About the 2023 Honorees:

Dr. Sylvia Earle

She is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence, and is called “Her Deepness” by the New Yorker and the New York Times, “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress, and “First Hero for the Planet” by Time. She is an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer with experience as a field research scientist, government official, and director for several corporate and non-profit organizations.

Gregory Robinson

Robinson’s four-year tenure as James Webb Space Telescope Program Director resulted in far-reaching contributions to the global astrophysics community. His leadership was instrumental to the success of Webb’s mission–a mission that is now delivering the first images of the hidden infrared universe. Robinson oversaw the largest and most complex space science observatory ever flown in space, heading a program that involved nearly 20,000 people across 29 states and 14 countries.

NATURE

For more than 40 years, NATURE has brought the beauty and wonder of the natural world into American homes, and is one of the most-watched documentary film series on public television. The series has won more than 700 awards and honors – including 21 Emmy Awards, three Peabody Awards, and the first honor ever given to a television program by the Sierra Club.
