What: Free CompTIA Network+ Certification Test Prep Course to help Montanans accelerate their IT career, hosted by Accelerate Montana and Gener8tor Skills

When: Class starts Monday, November 4th and will run until Monday, January 27th (10-week course)

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE EVENT:

Accelerate Montana is partnering with Gener8tor Skills to teach a free CompTIA Network+ Certification Test Prep course to help Montanans develop their IT careers. Participants will benefit from small, supportive cohorts and receive one-on-one guidance to achieve career success. 

Recommended Experience

CompTIA A+ certification and a minimum of 9-12 months of hands-on experience working in a junior network administrator/network support technician job role.

Commitment

The course will start on Monday, November 4th and run until Monday, January 27th. Students are expected to take the CompTIA Network+ exam within one week from the end of the course. Learners will need 15-20 hours a week for this course and will meet once a week with an advisor via Zoom. Classes are asynchronous.

Cost

This program will be provided free of charge with support from Accelerate Montana. After applications are submitted, each applicant will have an interview to determine eligibility. 100% of the costs for the course plus the cost to take the Network+ exam. This is a $3870 value. If students don't pass the exam on the first try, they will be responsible for paying for the retake.

Learning Outcomes:

The CompTIA Network+ certification verifies that the successful candidate has the knowledge and skills required to: 

  • Establish network connectivity by deploying wired and wireless devices. Understand and maintain network documentation. 

  • Understand the purpose of network services. 

  • Understand basic datacenter, cloud and virtual networking concepts. 

  • Monitor network activity, identifying performance and availability issues. 

  • Implement network hardening techniques. 

  • Manage, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure.
